How to innovate in a boutique hotel, you ask?

This Japanese inn looks like any other traditional guest house or ryokan as they call it. Except it’s not.

At the foyer, you are welcomed by the staff in kimonos and you are expected to take off your shoes and use slippers which are neatly lined up.

Minimalistic and clean environment of Japanese esthetics, wood and natural colors in front of you.

Rooms are furnished with low tables and floor cushions for seating and hot tea is served for you.

But, there’s a techy twist.

When there are many things going on at the floor level, it can get chaotic.

And the Japanese atmosphere is all about order and peace in the physical realm as a condition for mental hygiene.

Therefore, this hotel introduces autonomous driving technology for slippers, tables and floor cushions.

When these amenities are not in use, they automatically return to their designated spots.

No need for anyone to put back these and disturb your space. Yet, everything is neat as things take care to be at the right place.

It’s not the simplest way to innovate, but this is an example of great brand collaboration which brings benefits to everyone.
