“You’re crazy, how can you make a hotel of salt? No one will go there.” Lucia remembers people saying to her and her father.

Today, this is a popular property. Luxurious and inspiring.

Floors, walls, furniture, ceilings, sculptors, everything is made of salt.

Stay in the room with a domed ceiling composed of salt bricks and enjoy murals created by local artists and craftsmen.

Head for a dip in saltwater pools in the hotel’s spa or full-body salt beauty treatment.

There is also a 9-hole salt golf course and folklore showroom with traditional dance costumes which you can try on.

Their buffet offers a variety of salt-based specialties, of course.

And when the rainy season comes, the hotel will disintegrate for about 10% which need to be replaced afterwards.

Still, a small part of the hotel is kept untouched by maintenance to show the effect of time and humidity on saline formations of the walls.

Note that licking the walls is strictly forbidden as it affects structure of the hotel and for sanitary reasons!
