Do you know luxury is NOT what it used to be 30 years ago?
Values evolved and luxury CHANGED significantly. That’s why today, luxury is far MORE than shiny interior, lobster and caviar, leather and cashmere.
Luxury today is about the whole picture which is MEANINGFULLY created.
It’s something your guests can’t point out to specifically but WILL feel and explain.
More people describe their stay as FINE BUT BORING. Everyone has their own expectations of perfect hotel stay. BUT they all belong to one category. EXPERIENCE.
Experience is the measure for everything nowadays. It’s like a NEW currency.
You might be CONVINCED you are creating an experience when in fact you are FAKING it. The example is serving food in specific dishes in which it should’ve been cooked but you just use it for fancy presentation.
More than ever people care about ESSENCE and not just presentation.
Hotels are MADE FOR experiences. You got your guest physically present and potentially mentally and emotionally engaged.
If you fail to have them as a whole at least for a moment, chances are you will be nothing special to them.
BUT, if you manage to ENGAGE them, capture them in the moment, make them feel a certain way, you’ve got yourself an engaged guest.
