Tactical empathy is strategic and skillful use of empathy in communication, especially when we don’t agree with the other person's point of view or have difficulty understanding their side of story.

 

It is about genuinely understanding the emotions and needs of the other person in order to establish a connection and work toward a mutually beneficial solution.

 

It involves active listening and asking questions to create an environment where one feels safe and understood and where we can essentially think of a solution to a problem.

 

It's often associated with negotiation and conflict resolution strategies which should definitely be the part of employees trainings.
